We’re looking for a talented developer to take ownership of our backend systems and infrastructure, with occasional crossover into frontend work. You’ll be instrumental in setting up and scaling our internal dev function — influencing tooling, workflows, and technical decisions along the way.
You’ll primarily support our Shopify Plus store, building robust tools and custom systems that keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
What You'll Do:
- Develop API integrations with external systems (CRM, stock, shipping tools, etc.)
- Design and build custom, greenfield systems to support warehousing and logistics
- Collaborate with our frontend dev to enhance our Shopify Plus store (Liquid, JavaScript, HTML/CSS)
- Work directly with internal teams to scope, build, and deliver business systems
- Identify and automate repetitive processes across departments
- Drive full-lifecycle development on key infrastructure projects
Projects You'll Work On:
- Internal systems for streamlining business operations
- CI/CD pipelines for deploying frontend and backend code
- A custom-built eCommerce app to extend our Shopify functionality
- What You’ll Need (Essential Skills)
- Experience with server-side scripting (C# .NET Core 6+ preferred, or Node.js)
- Strong knowledge of RESTful API development and integration
- Database design and development (SQL, MySQL, and/or NoSQL)
- Familiarity with ORMs (Dapper or Entity Framework for .NET, or TypeORM/Prisma for Node.js)
- Understanding of software design principles and patterns (e.g., SOLID, DI, Factory)
- Experience writing unit and integration tests
- Proficiency in vanilla JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Version control using Git and experience setting up CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions)
- Comfort using tools like JIRA or Azure DevOps
- 4+ years of commercial development experience
- A self-starter mindset: fast, proactive, and impact-driven
Bonus Points For:
- Shopify Plus development experience
- Knowledge of frontend build tools (Webpack, Vite, NPM/Node)
- Cloud function experience (Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or .NET Web APIs)
- SCSS/SASS proficiency
- Experience with TypeScript, React, or Flutter
- Familiarity with cross-browser testing tools (e.g., BrowserStack)
- A love for trading cards (or at least understand the hype)
What We Offer:
- Salary starting from £45,000 (negotiable for the right person)
- Dual-monitor setup, high-spec machine, and any tools you need
- On-site, full-time role at our Plymouth HQ
- A clear growth path toward a senior or lead dev position
- The opportunity to shape and lead dev processes from the ground up
- Be part of a tight-knit, ambitious, and creative team
Benefits:
- Company pension
- Bereavement leave
- Store discount
- Free on-site parking
