Exciting opportunity for a technically strong Mechanical Engineer to join our Operations team. Working as part of our highly trained and experienced team, our Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring our production plant operates smoothly on a daily basis, by conducting planned preventative maintenance and responding to breakdowns in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Position: Mechanical Engineer - Salary: Starting salary commensurate with experience and qualifications (From 45,000) - Location: This role is office-based in Kilwaughter, Larne, Northern Ireland
Mechanical Engineer Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Well-being policies/procedures to deliver a safety-first culture
- Bring root cause expertise to accurately fault-find problems, delivering highly effective solutions that prevent recurring problems.
- Develop and report concise data-driven metrics to inform priorities and action plans
- Undertake repairs, servicing, and maintenance of a wide range of production plant and machinery to the highest standard and pre-determined specifications and relevant legislation.
- Develop, maintain and implement planned maintenance schedules and routines for all plant
- Fault finding, testing and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings, fixtures, and parts.
- Responsibility to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained for all critical spares to provide efficient planned work and that all necessary records are completed accurately.
- Comply with all company policies, including environmental/energy and procedures, in both normal and emergency situations
- Maintain collaborative working practices, building strong relationships with all internal stakeholders to contribute towards the production of high-quality products to exceed customer expectations.
- Manage breakdowns with urgency to minimise downtime, and complete PM activities within agreed timelines.
- Ability to understand technical drawings
- Collaboration with all departments within the business to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the manufacturing process.
- Have the ability and confidence to make pragmatic decisions using knowledge, experience and judgement
- To have the skills and ability to coach/mentor team members to improve overall team performance and capabilities.
- IT literate to ensure the correct completion of database systems accurately.
- Act as an ambassador for our company values and adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Any other duties as required by management
Education:
- HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering
- Time served, Mechanical background
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience gained in a manufacturing environment, or a similar role.
- Proven experience working with Mechanical drive systems
- Proven experience working with Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Experience working with servicing, repairs, and maintenance of plant machinery.
- Knowledge of current H&S legislation
- Root cause analysis & fault-finding experience
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from files, technical drawings, catalogues, reports, and manuals.
