Job Description

We are seeking 2 Data Scientists to develop predictive models and advisory products. The role will primarily involve non-linear modelling techniques (e.g. GBMs), alongside building and deploying linear models in cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure). Experience with neural networks is not required, but would be beneficial.

This position is well-suited to recent graduates or early-career data scientists looking to apply their academic knowledge in a commercial setting. However, we welcome applicants with a range of experience levels.

Success in this role requires not only technical ability but also creativity, diligence, and resilience. You should be motivated to continuously improve, able to follow structured plans, and comfortable working to high standards within tight deadlines.

Experience with MLOps is advantageous but not essential.

Working Arrangements:

This is a fully remote role. Candidates must be UK-based and able to manage their time effectively with minimal supervision. Occasional travel to client sites may be required, with expenses covered.

Development Opportunities:

You will work directly with clients from day one, developing both technical expertise and interpersonal skills. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role that offers significant career acceleration. We also provide access to paid training courses to support ongoing professional development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum 2:1) in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Master’s degree desirable but not required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop predictive models using Python and vendor tools
  • Clean, manage, and enrich datasets
  • Perform feature engineering
  • Deploy models on cloud platforms and advise clients on implementation
  • Build advisory tools to enhance client data capabilities
  • Conduct R&D to maintain a competitive edge

No prior insurance experience is required.

Why Join Us:

  • £40,000 starting salary + bonus + pension
  • 32 days annual leave plus public holidays
  • Fully remote working with equipment provided
  • Exposure to diverse, cutting-edge projects (no BAU work)
  • Flat structure with no micromanagement or office politics
  • Private healthcare and life insurance
  • Funded learning and development opportunities

About Us:

We are a boutique insurance consultancy specialising in pricing and underwriting. Working with insurance providers across the UK and Europe, we help organisations maximise the value of their data, strengthen their analytical capabilities, and refine their strategic direction.

Founded in 2021 by two experienced industry professionals, established as a platform for delivering high-quality advisory services. Since launch, we have rapidly secured multiple client engagements, achieved ambitious growth targets, expanded our capacity, and entered new markets.

While our team brings decades of insurance experience, our core value lies in simplifying complexity. We focus on delivering clear, practical, and implementable solutions, with a strong emphasis on hands-on technical execution.

Application Questions:

  • Can you explain the difference between a GLM and a GBM? (This is a key requirement and will be assessed during interviews.)
  • Are your past and current projects detailed on your CV?
  • What experience do you have building high-quality GBM models in Python (excluding Kaggle datasets)?
