Experienced Full Stack Developer (ID: 4AqWkd6x)

We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Software Developer to join our in-house team. You’ll help build and improve our Cloud and the payment solutions we provide to merchants and platform partners.

You’ll work across the front end and back end, from developing new features and APIs to improving the performance, reliability and security of existing systems. This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to influence how our products and development practices evolve.

What you’ll do

• Develop, maintain and improve front-end and back-end applications.
• Design secure, scalable APIs and integrate them with our wider platform.
• Write clear, maintainable code and support it with appropriate documentation and tests.
• Investigate issues, debug systems and improve performance.
• Work closely with developers, designers and product managers to deliver useful features.
• Take part in code reviews and help maintain high engineering standards.
• Use AWS services to support the performance and scalability of our platform.
• Contribute ideas that improve our software and the way we work.

What you’ll bring

This is an experienced hire, suited to someone with at least three years of full-time professional software development experience. You’ll need:

• Strong JavaScript and Node.js skills.
• Experience building applications with React.
• Practical SQL and MySQL experience.
• Experience with AWS, including Lambda and API Gateway.
• Confidence using GitHub for version control and team development.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• An interest in working in a collaborative team that values ambition, excellence, inclusion and fresh thinking.
• You must have the right to work in the UK without employer sponsorship.

Useful additional experience

We’d be particularly interested in experience with TypeScript; Infrastructure as Code tools such as SAM, CloudFormation, Terraform or CDK; Python; CI/CD; or payments and fintech systems. Experience using AI tools effectively in software development would also be useful.

We build our own Android hardware, so Kotlin, Java or native Android development experience could open up opportunities to contribute to our mobile applications. This is primarily a full stack web role, and Android experience is not required.

Because we work in payments, an understanding of secure coding, application vulnerabilities, API authentication and authorisation, and relevant data protection requirements would be valuable.

Working pattern

The role is based at our Portsmouth office, with three days in the office and two days working from home. Some office days will run from 11am to 7pm, including a 30-minute lunch break, to cover later support hours. Some weekend working will also be required as part of our client support arrangements.
