Job Description

Grade 11 Data Scientist required to join the Technology team. This is an exciting opportunity to help build our Data Science capability from the ground up. Working closely with our Data Engineering team and using our cloud-based Data Analytics Platform, you’ll develop machine learning models and data-driven products that enhance the accuracy, reliability, and insight of Settlement data across the GB electricity market.

You’ll work with large-scale energy datasets — including more than 1.5 billion daily meter readings — helping to shape the next generation of analytics services and data products for the industry.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Conducting exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover trends, patterns, and data quality issues
  • Developing and validating machine learning models to identify anomalies and operational errors
  • Building analytical solutions and data products that support new market arrangements and business insights
  • Monitoring model performance and implementing retraining, validation, and optimisation processes
  • Partnering with Data Engineers to create scalable and resilient model pipelines
  • Applying MLOps best practices across deployment, monitoring, and model lifecycle management
  • Designing visualisations and dashboards to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders
  • Keeping up to date with emerging Data Science and Machine Learning techniques, applying them where relevant
  • Contributing to Data Science standards, documentation, and best practices across the organisation

We’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or advanced analytics roles
  • Strong understanding of data preparation, feature engineering, and exploratory analysis
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, or R for data analysis and model development
  • Experience developing and validating machine learning models
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex insights to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional Agile teams
  • Experience with Databricks, Azure, or cloud-based data platforms (desirable)
  • Familiarity with MLOps tools such as MLflow and model lifecycle management practices (desirable)

What’s in it for you:

  • Excellent benefits package including bonus, private medical insurance, and a generous pension scheme
  • Opportunities for professional growth and career development within a thriving organisation
  • Hybrid working model with 2 days per week in our London office
