Job Description

As a Data Scientist you’ll play a key role in driving growth and improving customer experience across the marketplace. Working closely with Product, Marketing and Seller teams, you’ll turn data into actionable insight, build predictive models, and influence fast-paced commercial decisions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build, deploy and maintain data science models supporting core e-commerce use cases, including purchase propensity, marketing attribution, product recommendations and customer retention.
  • Design, run and analyse experiments (A/B and multivariate tests) to evaluate product and marketing initiatives.
  • Translate business challenges into clear analytical questions and robust data science solutions.
  • Monitor model performance and iterate to ensure accuracy and relevance in a rapidly evolving e-commerce environment.
  • Communicate insights and model outputs clearly to non-technical stakeholders, influencing decision-making.
  • Partner with Data Engineers to ensure models are scalable, reliable and production-ready.
  • Collaborate with analysts to share best practices, provide coaching, and raise overall data capability across the team.
  • Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making across the business.

Requirements - Essential:

  • Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a data science role, ideally within e-commerce, digital, or consumer businesses.
  • Strong focus on business outcomes (growth, conversion, retention, margin), with the ability to prioritise work that delivers measurable impact.
  • Solid grounding in statistics, experimentation and machine learning, with good judgement on appropriate model complexity.
  • Understanding of customer behaviour, funnels, marketing channels, pricing and product performance — or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts simply, tell compelling data stories, and influence non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience working cross-functionally with analysts, data engineers, product and marketing teams to build scalable, well-documented solutions.
  • Excellent Python skills (e.g. pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, statsmodels) and strong SQL for data querying and transformation.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as BigQuery, Snowflake or Databricks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with recommendation systems, forecasting, or causal inference.
  • Knowledge of marketing analytics, including attribution, MMM and incrementality.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools.
  • Understanding of version control using Git.

Benefits:

  • Salary: £65,000–£70,000 (depending on experience)
  • Company equity — you’ll own a piece of the business you’re helping to build
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • An extra day off for your birthday
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Perks at Work benefits platform
  • Opportunities for career development and progression
