A skilled and motivated Software Developer is required to join our team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining software applications and systems that meet technical specifications and business requirements.

The role involves analysing existing systems, developing new software solutions, improving application performance, troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring the delivery of reliable, efficient and maintainable software. The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle to deliver effective software solutions.

Key Software Developer Responsibilities:

• Analyse existing software applications and business requirements to identify the specifications for new systems and enhancements to existing applications.
• Design, develop, implement and maintain software applications in accordance with technical specifications and business requirements.
• Assess technical requirements and conduct feasibility studies to determine appropriate software solutions.
• Write, modify, test and maintain efficient, reliable, scalable and reusable program code.
• Develop software components, modules and application functionality using appropriate programming languages, frameworks and development tools.
• Design and implement user interfaces and application features that meet defined functional and business requirements.
• Integrate software applications with databases, APIs and internal or external systems to ensure effective data exchange and interoperability.
• Test software applications to identify coding errors, functional issues and technical defects.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve software defects to maintain application stability, reliability and performance.
• Review, optimise and improve existing code to enhance efficiency, functionality, maintainability and system performance.
• Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation relating to software architecture, source code, system functionality and application configuration.
• Collaborate with technical teams and relevant stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
• Implement software updates, modifications and enhancements in response to changing business and technical requirements.
• Monitor application performance, investigate software-related issues and implement appropriate corrective measures.
• Follow established software development standards, coding practices, version-control procedures and development methodologies.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to improvements in software quality, security, reliability and maintainability.
• Provide technical input into the design and implementation of new software features, applications and system improvements.
