An exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Java Engineer to join a forward-thinking challenger bank start-up, backed by a major investment fund. You’ll be part of a small, highly experienced team building a cutting-edge, bespoke banking platform that integrates loan issuance, card issuance, and recovery into a single seamless system.
This role offers the chance to shape the company’s technology at a pivotal stage, working closely with the Java Team Lead and CTO to scale and modernise both our business processes and tech stack.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead hands-on Java development on a microservices-based platform.
- Mentor and support junior developers.
- Drive code reviews and uphold best practices.
- Collaborate with the CTO to define technical architecture and integration requirements.
- Contribute directly to building and evolving a best-of-breed fintech solution.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of commercial Java development experience.
- Strong background in Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
- Solid knowledge of Docker and AWS (ideally EventBridge & SQS).
- Proven experience building RESTful web services.
- Skilled in testing (JUnit, mocking frameworks, integration testing).
- Experience deploying to AWS services (VPC, EC2, RDS, API Gateway).
- Familiarity with Swagger, Jenkins, and other industry-standard tools.
