Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and software release processes. Ideally, you will have:

  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of AWS services (e.g., VPC, EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch) in a secure, scalable environment.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting systems, interpreting metrics, and using logs to make data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with change control practices and environments.
  • A strong understanding of risk management in cloud-based systems.
  • A proactive problem-solving attitude and the ability to efficiently resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; confident in engaging stakeholders and influencing decisions.
  • Flexibility to work independently or in a team, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A passion for learning, improvement, and driving positive change within your team.

About Us:

We pioneered the UK’s first direct-to-consumer blood testing service and created a market where none existed. As we continue to expand our B2C business, we’re also exploring exciting opportunities to grow within the B2B and B2B2C sectors through our innovative tech platform, Plasma.

Our mission is simple: to be part of everyone’s journey toward better health. We’re building a healthcare platform for the future with a team of medics, designers, engineers, and communicators. We’re committed to making a real difference in people’s lives. We’re looking for passionate people who want to use their skills and expertise to help us reshape the way blood testing and health insights are delivered.

Role Overview:

As a DevOps Engineer at our company, you will be integral in developing the infrastructure and processes that drive our business forward. You’ll focus on innovation, continuous improvement, and building scalable, resilient systems that are essential to our growth.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead the drive for innovation and continuous improvement, particularly with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Design, implement, and manage scalable and resilient infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex AWS infrastructure issues, including networking and firewall configurations.
  • Integrate infrastructure processes into CI/CD pipelines, embedding DevSecOps principles for better automation and security.
  • Strengthen the security posture of our AWS environment through best practices and policies.
  • Document systems and processes clearly to ensure smooth handover to BAU teams.

How We Work:

  • We’ve adopted a flexible hybrid working model, balancing time between home and office. While you will primarily work from home, we value collaboration and will occasionally meet in person for team activities or 1:1s.
  • We offer flexible working hours around our core business hours, giving you the autonomy to manage your workload in a way that suits both you and your team.

Reasonable Adjustments:

We are committed to providing reasonable adjustments to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity in our recruitment process. If you require any accommodations, please reach out.

Company Values:

We’re on a mission to make blood testing simpler and more accessible, ultimately benefiting everyone’s health. We focus on doing the right thing, even when it's tough, and delivering a positive impact.

Respect Everyone

We embrace inclusivity, treating everyone with kindness and respect. We value diverse perspectives and go the extra mile to support our colleagues, customers, and the wider community.

Deliver Outstanding

We’re driven by medical expertise and evidence-based decisions to deliver high-quality services and products. Our team thrives on growth, curiosity, and an ongoing commitment to learning.

People, Perks, and Culture:

We are dedicated to creating a great place to work, shaped by continuous feedback from our colleagues. In addition to a competitive salary, here’s a glimpse of the perks we offer:

  • 25 days of holiday, plus bank holidays
  • The option to buy and sell holidays
  • Hybrid working from anywhere in the UK
  • Company pension with salary sacrifice options
  • Flexible lunch breaks—whether it's a lunch break with a friend or hitting the gym
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave as part of our family-friendly policies
  • Paid sickness leave
  • Free and discounted blood tests for you, your family, and friends
  • Free access to an online GP service
