Location: Manchester – Hybrid Remote - Salary: £67,000 to £84,000 - Job Type: Full-Time
A company in Manchester are hiring for a Senior Python Developer to join their growing digital engineering consultancy. This hybrid role is based in Manchester and offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, secure, cloud-native systems across public and private sector digital transformation programmes.

Senior Python Developer – Role Overview:
- As a Senior Python Developer, you will design, build and lead the development of secure, scalable, high-performance applications. You will work in cross-functional Agile teams delivering user-centred digital services that solve complex real-world problems.
- This role combines hands-on Python engineering with technical leadership and stakeholder engagement.
- Senior Python Developer Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust Python applications in production environments
- Architect and implement microservices-based solutions
- Develop and maintain RESTful API services
- Deploy cloud-native applications using AWS or Azure
- Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild, Azure DevOps)
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates)
- Containerise applications using Docker and Kubernetes
- Work within Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, TDD)
- Collaborate with designers, product managers and stakeholders
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers
- Contribute to engineering best practices and technical strategy
Senior Python Developer – Required Skills:
- Strong commercial experience as a Senior Python Developer or Python Engineer
- Advanced knowledge of Python frameworks and backend development
- Experience building scalable systems using microservices architecture
- Strong experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms
- Full-stack capability with Python, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Node.js or Angular)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and container orchestration
- DevOps experience and strong understanding of CI/CD
- Experience delivering software in Agile environments
- Excellent communication skills (technical and non-technical audiences)
Desirable:
- Experience working on UK Government (GOV) or NHS digital projects
- Consultancy or client-facing delivery experience

Location & Working Pattern:
This is a hybrid Senior Python Developer role based in Manchester (M2 1DH). Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance of one of our offices in London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham or Glasgow. Some travel to client sites may be required.
