Machine Learning Scientist (ID: L0dPcaOF)

We are looking to recruit a Machine Learning Scientist to join our growing team in London. In this exciting role, you’ll contribute to the development of Shelf Intelligence, our computer vision–powered platform that helps major retailers monitor real-time shelf conditions and optimize in-store execution.

This is a hands-on, applied research position ideal for early-career scientists passionate about building machine learning products from the ground up. Your work will directly empower retailers to stay competitive and meet evolving consumer expectations.

Machine Learning Scientist Role:

• Design, train, and deploy deep learning models for product recognition, shelf segmentation, and visual reasoning
• Apply cutting-edge research from recent ML papers to real-world retail image datasets
• Benchmark multiple ML approaches through robust experimental pipelines
• Develop scalable inference pipelines using PyTorch, TensorRT, ONNX, and TensorFlow Lite (for both cloud and edge deployment)
• Collaborate closely with engineers and product teams to integrate models into production systems
• Conduct error analysis and continuously iterate on model performance in live environments

Your Background: What You’ll Bring

• Master’s degree (with 3+ years of experience) or Ph.D. (with 0–2 years of experience) in machine learning, computer vision, or a related field
• Strong understanding of deep learning architectures
• Hands-on experience with generative AI models such as diffusion models and vision-language models (VLMs)
• Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch
• Familiarity with model optimization and inference acceleration tools (e.g., ONNX, TensorRT, OpenVINO, vLLM)
• Proven experience deploying ML models into production, including performance monitoring and diagnostics
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Bonus: Experience with computer vision tasks (e.g., object detection, OCR, image classification) or working with retail/merchandising data

Working Hours:

This role requires the ability to maintain at least 50% overlap with US working hours (PST) to coordinate with our US team and support clients across both US and EU regions.
