Job Description

We’re particularly interested in finding an experienced software developer who can demonstrate experience with MVC frameworks and/or modern JavaScript frameworks.

Skills and Experience:

Our current tech stack includes PHP, Slim Framework, JavaScript, React, and MySQL. You don’t need direct experience with these technologies—as long as you have solid commercial experience with modern programming languages.

The Team:

A highly collaborative development team that works closely through pair programming, whiteboarding, shared architecture decisions, and thorough peer review of code. We enjoy what we do, support one another, and share a genuine passion for technology.

We follow an agile approach, using the Scrum framework to deliver meaningful value to our customers.

Our structure is deliberately flat. Instead of traditional management layers, we share responsibilities across the team. There’s no micromanagement, just a culture of mutual support, where everyone contributes and helps each other succeed.

Collaboration extends beyond the development team. We work closely with product owners to prepare sprint work, partner with account managers to deliver a great customer experience, and coordinate with our operations team to ensure our applications are stable and reliable.

Other valuable areas (not required, but beneficial) include:

  • Accessibility standards and best practices for front-end development
  • Testing frameworks
  • Software design principles
  • Source control, especially Git

What We’re Looking For

Successful candidates will:

  • Be passionate about both the work we do and the technologies we use
  • Enjoy collaborating with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Be comfortable with pair programming and peer-reviewed code
  • Take a proactive, positive approach to problem-solving
  • Be eager to learn and support the growth of others
  • Thrive when working through challenges as part of a team

How to Apply

Please upload the following when applying:

  • A covering letter explaining your interest in the role, your passions, and what you would bring to the team
  • Your CV
  • Proof of your right to work in the UK (passport and, if applicable, share code and date of birth)
  • Applications missing any of the above will not be considered.
  • Please note: This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Benefits:

We offer a supportive working environment and a strong benefits package, including:

  • Monthly developer lunches
  • Quarterly hack days
  • Personal training budget
  • Free onsite gym
  • Company pension
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (with buy/sell options after probation)
  • Private health insurance
  • Life assurance

Flexible Working:

Collaboration is one of our core values, and we believe face-to-face interaction is important. At the same time, we recognise that some work is equally effective remotely.

Our flexible “place of work” policy allows you to choose where you work based on what’s most effective for the task at hand. There are no fixed office days; some weeks may be fully in-office, others fully remote. Many team members typically spend around three days a week in the office, but this varies.

Additional Information:

Successful applicants will be required to complete a basic DBS check as part of onboarding. This is arranged and funded by the company and is required due to our work with NHS-related services.

We review applications as they arrive and may close the role early once we reach our limit or make a successful offer.

About Us:

  • A growing software company recognised as Development Team of the Year at the 2018 UK IT Industry Awards and a finalist again in 2021.
  • We build healthcare applications that support people recovering from mental health challenges. Our work has a real-world impact, helping clinicians and patients achieve better outcomes.
  • We offer a positive working environment, opportunities to develop new skills, and a comprehensive benefits package.
