What You’ll Do:

  • Dive into large datasets (telematics, policy, and quote data) to identify key trends and opportunities.
  • Build and validate statistical and machine learning models that directly impact pricing and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Actuarial, and Product teams to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
  • Communicate insights effectively through clear dashboards, visualisations, and storytelling.
  • Contribute to best practices in coding, experimentation, and improving how we work as a team.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Junior Data Scientist or Data Analyst.

Junior Data Scientist Technical Skill Requirements:

  • Python: Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in training predictive models. Familiarity with libraries like pandas and scikit-learn.
  • SQL: Proficient in SQL, especially with cloud data platforms like Snowflake.
  • Statistical Methods: Solid understanding of GLMs and machine learning algorithms.
  • Data Tools: Experience with cloud-based platforms (we use AWS) and visualisation tools (Looker, matplotlib, seaborn).
  • Software Engineering: Knowledge of version control (e.g., Git) and software development practices in a data-driven environment.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong curiosity and problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to present complex insights clearly.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (we use Buildkite and ArgoCD).
  • Exposure to insurance pricing tools like Akur8, Emblem, or similar.
  • Familiarity with telematics or usage-based insurance data.
  • Experience in time series analysis or graph technologies.
