We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Junior Software Tester to launch their career with an award-winning, international software company and become part of our growing Lincoln-based team.

This role is ideal for recent graduates or candidates with Further Education qualifications in a STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics). You’ll play a key role in the full software testing lifecycle, from early requirements gathering through to user acceptance testing and ongoing quality assurance. Developing a strong understanding of our platform, its purpose, functionality and mechanics will be essential to ensure thorough and effective test coverage.

We’re looking for a critical thinker with a strong user-focused mindset who enjoys collaborating with developers to design, maintain and improve test suites across our platform. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to and influence our testing strategies as the business continues to grow.

With a structured development plan in place, this role suits someone eager to learn, develop professionally and continuously build their skills. You’ll work within a passionate, skilled and supportive team, benefiting from mentorship by industry experts and encouragement to pursue personal learning and development.

Junior Software Tester Responsibilities:

  • Manual software testing
  • Identifying, documenting and reporting defects
  • Quality assurance activities
  • Writing and maintaining test plans and scripts
  • Collaborating within an agile test and development team
  • End-to-end testing using Playwright
  • Functional and load testing using JMeter and/or K6

Required Skills, Attributes & Experience:

  • STEM background with Further Education qualifications (A-levels or equivalent)
  • A degree in Computing or Software-related disciplines is desirable but not essential
  • Willingness to learn core testing principles and achieve ISTQB Foundation Tester Certification within 6 months
  • Strong interest in software testing processes, methodologies and best practices
  • Enthusiasm for the tech industry and ongoing professional development
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive, positive attitude towards learning
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and organisational skills
  • Relevant extracurricular activities that enhance software or technical skills (desirable)

Remuneration:

£26,000 per annum, rising to £28,000 upon successful completion of probation.
