Job Description

We are a London-based technology startup seeking bright, motivated, and self-driven individuals to join our growing team.

Who You Are:

You are a recent (or soon-to-be) PhD graduate in a STEM discipline, motivated by applying research and technical skills to real-world, industrial challenges.

You must have:

  • A relevant PhD in a STEM field (e.g. engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science).
  • Demonstrated self-directed learning, creative problem solving, critical thinking, and the ability to clearly communicate solutions.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Experience with data-science tooling (e.g. Python, R, Julia).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

We care less about specific tools or technologies, and more about your mindset, learning speed, and approach to problem solving.

Nice to have:

  • Applied experience through internships, industry collaborations, or research projects with industrial or startup partners.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, process engineering, or mechanical engineering fundamentals (e.g. optimisation, uncertainty quantification, sensitivity analysis).
  • Interest in analysis automation, high-performance computing (HPC), cloud computing, Linux command-line tools, or bash scripting.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-changing environments while maintaining high standards and attention to detail.

Bonus:

  • Familiarity with machine-learning or deep-learning libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, Keras, PyTorch).
  • Exposure to commercial engineering or optimisation tools (e.g. Dassault Systèmes, Siemens, ANSYS, Aspen), or open-source optimisation software used in academia or industry.

What We Do:

We are building an industrial platform that empowers engineers and research scientists to tackle complex challenges in energy efficiency, product design, and system reliability. Our product connects simulations, data, and AI to support informed decision-making across the entire lifecycle of engineered systems.

We are an early-stage startup backed by Crane Venture Partners (UK), Acequia Capital (USA), and international angel investors. We were founded through partnerships with leading research institutions including Imperial College London and The Alan Turing Institute. Our customers are early-adopter multinational organisations across pharmaceuticals, fast-moving consumer goods, defence, and energy.

Where We Operate

  • Our office is based in White City, London. This is a full-time UK-based role.

When We Work:

  • We offer 25 days of paid annual leave, plus UK public holidays.

What You Will Do

  • You will contribute to impactful projects while growing your career in a supportive, collaborative environment:
  • 60% – Design, plan, implement, and deploy industrial use cases. You will translate customer feedback and requirements into practical solutions, working closely with applications, UI, and systems teams.
  • 20% – Develop technical reference materials, including application and code documentation, use-case examples, technical blog posts, and educational resources for internal and external sessions.
  • 20% – Support sales and customer success through hands-on technical contributions, helping communicate real-world examples to existing and prospective customers.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary between £60,000 and £85,000, depending on experience.
  • Training and development support to build required technical skills.

Employee stock options:

  • New equipment (MacBook Pro) and a work-from-home allowance.
  • Opportunities to attend technical conferences.
  • A flexible hybrid working model combining office and remote work.

Our Hiring Process:

  • 30 minutes – Introductory call with us to learn about each other and ensure alignment.
  • 90 minutes – Technical interview with two team members, including discussion of a past programming project and review of your code.
  • 45 minutes – Live online coding exercise in your preferred programming language.
  • 45 minutes – Follow-up interview with additional team members to meet your future colleagues and learn more about the role.
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where diversity is valued and everyone is treated fairly. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, gender identity, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. Reasonable adjustments to the interview process are available for candidates with disabilities.

One More Thing:

If you are strongly aligned with our mission and would like to propose a role better suited to your skills and experience, we would love to hear from you.
