Job Description

Are you an experienced Data Scientist who enjoys tackling complex data challenges and has a knack for turning them into simple, effective solutions? You’re comfortable working with ambiguity and take pride in bringing clarity where others see uncertainty. You’re passionate about technology, stay curious as it evolves, and naturally focus on what’s next.

You thrive on problem-solving and are trusted by clients because you’re honest, dependable, and clear in your communication. You can explain complex ideas concisely, educate with confidence, and inspire those around you. You bring a strong background in data science, machine learning, and data engineering, and you’re just as comfortable advising clients and presenting insights as you are building prototypes and solutions.

You’re a collaborator at heart and don’t hesitate to step beyond your role—whether that’s to support a client, help a colleague, or learn something new.

What might you be doing as our Data Scientist?

  • Leading client projects and acting as a subject matter expert
  • Working in scrum-like, iterative environments that embrace experimentation and “fail-fast” innovation
  • Assessing clients’ business and technical needs, identifying opportunities for data science, and managing stakeholder relationships
  • Solving problems using robust, scientifically sound data science techniques
  • Identifying and working with relevant data sources to support client objectives
  • Working with a variety of data types (structured, semi-structured, unstructured; text, time-series, image) and modelling them appropriately for data science use
  • Exploring and analysing data to uncover key drivers and underlying causes
  • Applying statistical and evidence-based approaches to generate insights and inform action
  • Communicating technical concepts clearly and at the right level, internally and with clients
  • Telling compelling “data stories” using appropriate data science tools and investigations
  • Writing clean, maintainable code using established libraries and techniques, and where needed, developing novel approaches
  • Designing, evaluating, and implementing data science and machine learning solutions across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Building scalable models and algorithms that can be deployed into production
  • Applying ethical principles in the handling and use of data
  • Delivering high-quality work to agreed timelines, taking initiative, and getting up to speed quickly
  • Supporting client engagements, including pitches and presentations
  • Contributing to the growth of Daintta by helping shape strategy and the future of the business
  • Representing our core values: Fair, Transparent, and Daring

Sounds like something you’d enjoy? Here’s a bit more about you:

  • 5+ years of degree-level industry experience in data science
  • Degree-level education in a STEM subject
  • Experience working in consultancy, engineering, or the data industry
  • Proven experience leading client delivery across data science, data engineering, and data security projects
  • Strong hands-on experience with relevant technologies (e.g. Python for data science)
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • A commitment to continuous personal and professional development
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience using CI/CD tooling to analyse, build, test, and deploy code
  • Experience with database technologies (e.g. SQL, NoSQL such as Elasticsearch, graph databases)
  • A solid understanding of coding best practices, including design patterns, version control, dependency management, code quality, optimisation, logging, monitoring, validation, and alerting

Position: Data Scientist -  Job Type: Full-Time  -  Salary: £60,000 to £85,000 per year DOE

Location: Hybrid working, with 2–3 days per week based at our office (London) or on client site, as required.
