Are you an experienced senior web software engineer? As a Web Software Engineer, you will join a talented and supportive Agile team responsible for enhancing and maintaining our occupational health portals and the applications that support them.

We are looking for an experienced developer with strong expertise in .NET Core and PHP who can contribute to both technical delivery and the team's broader development.

Our Software Delivery team brings together the expertise and strengths of several previously standalone businesses, creating a friendly, positive, and collaborative working environment.

We are passionate about embedding Agile practices throughout the organisation and are committed to delivering secure, reliable software through a robust Software Delivery Lifecycle.

Software Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement new system functionality.
  • Investigate software defects and deliver effective fixes.
  • Contribute to estimating and planning development work.
  • Support incident resolution and recommend improvements to prevent recurring issues.
  • Develop solutions in accordance with IT policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct peer reviews and confidently explain and justify technical designs and implementations.
  • Deploy application changes and take ownership of successful production releases.
  • Take a leading role in sprint planning, helping translate user requirements into clear technical requirements and drive the design of effective solutions.
  • Share your subject-matter expertise by coaching colleagues on best practices and problem-solving techniques.
  • Act as an escalation point for other Software Engineers, helping them overcome technical challenges.
  • Demonstrate initiative, take ownership of assigned work, and collaborate across the wider team to ensure successful delivery.
  • Promote and adhere to IT policies, procedures, security standards, and development best practices.

What We're Looking For - Essential Experience

  • 5+ years of experience with .NET Core.
  • 3+ years of experience with PHP.
  • Strong experience writing complex SQL queries.
  • Good understanding of web development and accessibility standards.
  • Experience with serverless infrastructure, including AWS and Azure.
  • Strong understanding of web application security risks and appropriate preventative measures, including the OWASP Top 10.

Desirable Experience - The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • BPM and/or low-code platforms.
  • Laravel and React.
  • Containerisation technologies.
  • Accessibility and usability principles.
