Job Description

Join Our In-House Tech Team as a Web Developer  - Our internal tech team manages everything from our public websites to the systems we use behind the scenes to run the business. We’re now looking for a talented web developer to join our current tech lead and create a small but highly effective two-person development team.

You’ll become an important part of a growing company of more than 70 people, all working together to support entrepreneurs across the UK. Our team is based in a brand-new 15,000 sq ft headquarters in Solihull, and the environment here is energetic, collaborative, and genuinely enjoyable to be part of.

Why People Love Working Here:

  • There’s a reason we were named a Sunday Times Best Place to Work two years in a row.
  • Here are just a few things that make this role a little different:
  • We work Monday to Thursday only – which means a permanent three-day weekend
  • We have an office butler and a chef
  • There’s an office dog around to keep morale high
  • An on-site gym is available for anyone who wants to use it
  • You’ll be joining a friendly team of 70+ people who genuinely enjoy working together
  • Standard benefits such as holiday allowance, bonuses, and pension

Most importantly, the work we do helps thousands of people grow their businesses and build better lives for themselves, their families, and their teams. Being part of that impact makes the work feel meaningful.

The Role:

  • For developers who enjoy building and improving things, this position offers a great balance.
  • We move quickly and encourage new ideas, much like a start-up, but we also have the stability and resources of an established company. Good development work is valued here, and the time and skill required to do things properly is recognised.
  • The development team will consist of two people, which means you’ll have someone to collaborate with, share ideas with, and tackle technical challenges together.

What We’re Looking For:

  • The ideal candidate will have a solid technical foundation and enjoy solving problems.
  • You should have experience with:
  • PHP
  • HTML
  • SCSS / CSS
  • JavaScript
  • MySQL
  • In addition, it would be helpful if you:
  • Are comfortable using Bootstrap
  • Can build responsive, user-friendly interfaces
  • Have strong problem-solving skills
  • Can think ahead and anticipate potential technical issues
  • Enjoy finding creative solutions, such as improving performance with caching when working with APIs
  • Are comfortable reading and improving existing codebases
  • Know how to research solutions when needed
  • Take initiative and suggest ways to improve systems or development processes
  • Keep up with new tools and trends in web development
  • Just as important as technical skills is attitude. We’re looking for someone reliable, proactive, and who enjoys being part of a team.

Our Office:

  • You’ll be working from our headquarters at Blythe. The office is modern, bright, and designed to be a place people actually enjoy coming to.
  • You’ll also have access to modern equipment and the tools you need to do your job well.
  • Our working hours are 8 am – 6 pm, Monday to Thursday, which means Fridays are always free.

Career Progression:

We’re looking for someone who wants to grow with the company over the long term.

There is a clear opportunity to progress into a Lead Developer role, and eventually potentially move into a CTO position as the company continues to grow.

That said, the immediate focus is on the Web Developer role, so this path will develop over time rather than overnight.

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Private medical insurance
  • Free or discounted food
  • On-site gym
  • Free Onsite Parking
  • Casual dress
  • Regular company events

Application Process:

If this sounds like the kind of role you’ve been looking for, we’d love to hear from you.

The process includes a few short practical tasks along with in-person interviews so we can get to know each other properly.

If you’re looking for a development role where you can make a real impact, work with a small team, and enjoy a genuine three-day weekend every week, this could be the opportunity for you.
