Job Description

Looking for an adaptable and innovative full stack software engineer to help us build next-generation RF systems for complex and contested electromagnetic environments. As a high-impact startup at the intersection of hardware and software, we’re on a mission to design scalable, resilient solutions that thrive in the real world, under pressure, under load, and under fire.

This is your opportunity to work at the edge of technology, where modern software engineering meets advanced RF, signal processing, and embedded systems. If you’re a creative problem-solver who thrives working across the full tech stack and collaborating in a hands-on, mission-focused environment, we want to hear from you.

As a full stack software engineer, you’ll contribute to the full lifecycle of software development, from concept and prototyping through to deployment and support in the field. Your work will touch everything from RF signal processing and data pipelines to UI development for real-world operators.

You will:

  • Develop and maintain full-stack software solutions, from back-end processing to front-end interfaces used in tactical environments.
  • Integrate with real-world hardware, including software-defined radios (SDRs), GNSS receivers, and other RF sensors.
  • Build efficient and secure data pipelines for managing and processing high-volume, high-fidelity signal data.
  • Design UIs that are usable in austere or time-critical environments, focusing on clarity, reliability, and speed.
  • Work alongside system engineers, hardware teams, and field operators to rapidly test, iterate, and deploy.
  • Support cloud and edge processing workflows, making intelligent use of orchestration and infrastructure automation tools.

Your Skills & Experience

  • We’re less concerned about the number of years you’ve worked, and more interested in what you’ve done and how you think. A successful full stack software engineer will bring:
  • Proficiency in one or more core languages: Python, C, C++, or Rust.
  • Full-stack experience, combining backend development with modern frontend frameworks to deliver complete, user-focused solutions.
  • A solid understanding of software architecture, including microservices, containerisation (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with RF systems and concepts such as modulation, direction finding, jamming, and SDRs (bonus: experience with frameworks like GNU Radio or OpenCPI).
  • Practical knowledge of IP networking, including techniques for secure and efficient data transmission over unreliable networks.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Experience integrating COTS hardware, with an understanding of real-world resource constraints.
  • A startup mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, ready to take initiative, and eager to deliver working solutions fast.

Why Join us?

You won’t be just another engineer, you’ll be a core contributor shaping the future of national security and defence tech. We tackle some of the hardest problems in the industry with speed, creativity, and deep technical rigour. No unnecessary red tape, no bloated management layers, just rapid engineering cycles and a relentless focus on impact.

As a full stack software engineer, you’ll work on systems that get tested in the field, not just in simulation. Your code will contribute to real-world capability, and you’ll see the results of your work deployed where it matters.

Location & Benefits

Location: Hybrid role based in Romsey (SO51), with some flexibility for home working as needed.

Salary: £40,000 – £80,000 per year depending on experience.

Benefits:

  • Company pension scheme
  • Private medical insurance
  • On-site parking
  • Opportunities for real-world testing and field deployment

Application Essentials

Residency: You must have been a resident in the UK for the past 5 years to be eligible.

Work Authorisation: UK work authorisation required (citizens or permanent residents preferred)
