Senior Data Engineer to join our Platform Analytics team and help build the foundations of one of the most ambitious health data platforms in the world.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the data pipelines, warehouses, and automation that power our analytics ecosystem. You’ll work in a cross-functional squad alongside software engineers, analysts, and data scientists—making sure they have seamless access to clean, reliable, and well-structured data to accelerate research and discovery.
By enabling scalable and secure data infrastructure, you’ll play a direct role in helping Our Future Health uncover insights into human health, disease prevention, and treatment—work that will improve lives for generations to come.
What You’ll Do as Senior Data Engineer
- Design & Implement Pipelines: Build robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and process participant, NHS, and genomic datasets.
- Data Modelling & Warehousing: Develop efficient, production-ready data models and architectures using Snowflake (or similar cloud data warehouses).
- Enable Analytics: Empower analysts and scientists with well-structured, high-quality data that supports self-service analytics and experimentation.
- Automation & CI/CD: Streamline development workflows with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred) and automation for deployment and testing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with analysts, engineers, and product teams to deliver value iteratively and effectively.
- Governance & Security: Ensure all data handling aligns with best practices for governance, compliance, and privacy—especially when dealing with sensitive healthcare data.
- Innovation & Leadership: Contribute to building a modern data platform from the ground up in a greenfield environment, shaping our tools, standards, and culture.
How We Work Together
- We’re a remote-first team that values both flexibility and connection.
- Twice a month, we meet in person to collaborate, problem-solve, and share lunch.
- Every quarter, we run a strategy day to focus on the bigger picture and plan ahead.
- We also host regular team demos and even a book club—because continuous learning and celebrating progress matter to us.
- These rhythms help us stay connected, build trust, and feel part of something meaningful.
About Us
We are set to be the UK’s largest health research programme. Supported by the UK Government, charities, and industry—and working closely with the NHS, we are building a volunteer community of 5 million people from across the country.
By securely combining health, genomic, and lifestyle data, we will create one of the most detailed pictures of population health ever assembled. Researchers will use this to discover new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases earlier—so future generations can live healthier, longer lives.
