Job Description

A leading UK fleet solutions business supporting more than 55,000 customers nationwide is looking to recruit a Graduate Data Scientist into its growing Business Intelligence team.

With over 300 employees across five offices, we are investing in our data capabilities to drive smarter commercial decisions, improve customer value and identify new growth opportunities.

Reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence, this is an excellent opportunity for a recent postgraduate to take their first step into industry, applying their technical knowledge to real business challenges across customer analytics, pricing, sales and marketing.

You’ll work alongside experienced data and analytics professionals, contributing to the development of predictive models, machine learning solutions and data-driven insights that directly influence business performance. We are also transitioning to Microsoft Fabric; you’ll gain exposure to modern data technologies and the opportunity to develop your skills in a commercially focused environment.

We’re looking for an ambitious graduate with strong analytical foundations, a genuine interest in data science and the drive to turn complex data into meaningful business outcomes.

Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and optimisation of customer value, segmentation and predictive models.
  • Analyse customer, sales and operational data to identify trends, patterns and commercial opportunities.
  • Contribute to the design, development, testing and deployment of machine learning and statistical models.
  • Assist with pricing analysis, commercial modelling and data-led decision-making.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements and translate business challenges into analytical solutions.
  • Develop dashboards, visualisations and reports that communicate insights clearly and effectively.
  • Support test-and-learn initiatives to measure the impact of marketing campaigns and commercial strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to improve data quality, reporting and analytical processes.
  • Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Keep abreast of developments in data science, machine learning, AI and analytics.

What We’re Looking For

  • We’re keen to speak with graduates who combine technical ability with curiosity, commercial awareness and a willingness to learn.

Essential skills and experience:

  • A Master’s degree in Data Science or a related discipline, such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Analytics.
  • A sound understanding of statistical analysis, data modelling and machine learning concepts.
  • Practical experience with Python and/or R through academic projects, internships or personal projects.
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • The ability to analyse large datasets and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and an analytical mindset.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach, strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for developing a career in data science and applying analytical techniques to commercial challenges.

Desirable experience:

  • Data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Predictive modelling, customer analytics or commercial analytics.
  • Machine learning projects completed during university, internships or independent study.
  • Git or other version control tools.
  • An interest in cloud-based data platforms, particularly Microsoft Fabric.

The Package

  • £30,000 basic salary
  • Annual bonus of up to £2,000
  • Hybrid working, with two to three days per week at the Leeds Head Office
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • An additional day off for your birthday after one year of service
  • Holiday purchase scheme, allowing employees to buy or sell up to five days after two years of service
  • Free breakfast
  • Early finish on Fridays at 2:45 pm
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Company pension
  • Life assurance at four times annual salary
  • A friendly, supportive working environment with a relaxed dress code

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is a great opportunity to join an established UK business at a time when data is becoming increasingly central to its commercial strategy.

You’ll gain hands-on experience working with real-world datasets, contribute to projects that influence business decisions and learn from an experienced team committed to developing its analytical capabilities.

For a graduate looking to move beyond academic projects and build practical experience in machine learning, predictive analytics and commercial data science, this role offers an excellent foundation for long-term career progression.
